What is nazar?

Nazar, also called the evil eye or buri nazar, is the harm that can come from a look full of envy, or even from sincere admiration when Allah's name is not mentioned. The Prophet (peace be upon him) confirmed that the evil eye is real, and he taught his companions to seek protection from it with the words of the Quran and with dua.

This is why Muslims say "Ma sha Allah" when they praise something, and why reciting Surah Al-Falaq and Surah An-Nas has always been the first line of protection. A taweez for nazar carries these same words with you, written by hand, so the protection stays with you through the day.

• The taweez supports your own adhkar; it does not replace them.
